Dublin born artist Donna McGee has a background in financial services. She has always had a passion to paint. Juggling to create the right balance with family commitments and a busy work life, she opted to pursue her love of art. Consequently, she set up a studio at her home and immersed herself fully in the world of art.
Largely self-taught she developed a unique style, encompassing a diverse range of influences. She loves to travel, not least to the beautiful west coast of Ireland. She strives to capture the restless elemental forces of the Irish landscape and to celebrate its timeless beauty in her work.
Her preferred medium is oils. She combines the use of palette knives which allow for the creation of rich textures in impasto style, resulting in a dynamic and raw energy.
Weather permitting, Donna paints outdoors (en plein air) and she is a regular visitor to Europe’s largest open air painting festival in Wexford Art in the Open.
Donna has had two very successful Dublin solo exhibitions and regularly participates in a number of group exhibitions throughout Ireland. She has also exhibited at Art Source, Ireland’s premier Art Fair, Ideal Homes and the House Event with great success.
