Dublin born artist Donna McGee comes from a background in financial services. Since childhood, she has had a passion for painting. Having juggled to create a sense of balance with family commitments and a busy work life, she opted to pursue her love of art. She immersed herself fully in the art-world and set up a studio at her home.
She is largely self-taught and has developed a unique style, encompassing a diverse range of influences.
Donna loves to travel and is a regular visitor to the west coast of Ireland. She strives to capture the restless elemental forces of the Irish landscape and to celebrate its timeless beauty in her work. Her preferred medium is oils. She combines the use of palette knives which allow for the creation of rich textures in impasto style, resulting in a dynamic and raw energy.
Weather permitting, Donna paints outdoors (en plein air) and is a regular visitor to the annual international event in Wexford Art in the Open. This is Europe’s largest open air painting festival.
Donna exhibits in selected galleries and group exhibit
ions including Art Source, Ireland’s premier Art Fair. Her work is represented in collections both in Ireland and abroad and she has received a number of international awards.
She is a member of Visual Arts Ireland and The Dublin Art Society
Her paintings can be viewed most Sundays in Merrion Square, Dublin.
