My paintings are inspired by the love of the Irish landscape. I am drawn to capture the play between light and shadow, rugged coastlines, earthy boglands and misty mountain-tops. I am also fascinated by the amazing colour and cloud formations of the Irish sunset. Hence, it could be said, that I go around with my head in the clouds – figuratively speaking of course! Capturing the essence of this beauty is my goal.
My preferred medium is oils. I enjoy manipulating its properties to create layers of rich texture and vibrancy. I am self-taught so my process is more intuitive rather than analytical.
Surrounded by magnificent scenery, I am blessed to live on the east coast of Ireland at the foothills of the Dublin mountains. Hillwalking and discovering interesting vistas to capture by camera or to sketch and work up later in my studio is exciting for me. Weather permitting, I paint outdoors (en plein air). This creates a sense of immediacy to capture the changing light and is both challenging and rewarding. I am a regular visitor to Europe’s largest open air painting festival in Wexford Art in the Open.
Exploring the world through travel gives rise to experience new panoramas and cultures. It has an inspirational impact on my work and can create a whole new perspective. This is something I enjoy going in whatever destination the painting journey dictates.

I aim to keep my artwork at affordable prices so that you can fill an empty wall with one of my pieces. That empty space can become a vibrant statement piece or a restful and quiet corner.

If you have a special image that you would like captured in a unique painting, I would be pleased to discuss this further with you. A good photo is always helpful.
