Lost Love on the Titanic

The sinking of the ocean liner,  RMS Titanic  in 1912 was brought to life once again by the fictionalised epic romance film, “ Titanic” in 1997 with Leonardo DiCaprio as Jack Dawson and  Kate Winslet as Rose DeWitt Bukater.

With this in mind, I wanted to portray an image of a handsome couple swearing undying love for each other.  The scene was set against the backdrop of a threatening skyline and contrasted against the heavy, sturdy bow of the ship as it sailed on its ill-fated maiden voyage.

The sinking of the Titanic caused the deaths of 1,514 people in one of the deadliest peacetime maritime disasters  in history.

For me, this prompts an emotional response and acknowledges  the frailty of the human condition and our unknown destiny.  Hence, Carpe Diem!
