Inspiration:
Largely self-taught Donna has developed a unique style. She encompasses a diverse range of influences arising out of her love of travel, not least, the spectacular coastlines of Ireland. Observing and capturing the restless elemental forces of this landscape and celebrating its timeless beauty is central to her work. Continuing her love of learning, she has recently completed a Postgraduate course at Trinity College Dublin, in Creative & Cultural Entrepreneurship.
She is drawn to the allure of stormy skies, vibrant sunsets and observing the ever-changing light which is transformative. It creates an emotional response and a spiritual connection within the wonder of nature.
Weather permitting, she paints outdoors (plein air) and is a regular visitor to Europe’s largest annual open air painting festival in Wexford Art in the Open.

Process:
Donna works in oils and her paintings have an ethereal feel, more evident in her abstract work. Sometimes she incorporates surrealist elements to create greater mood and atmosphere, thereby, her interpretation of the subject matter is transformed rather than merely recorded. The use of palette knives allow for the creation of rich texture resulting in a dynamic and raw energy.
With successful Dublin solo shows, she participates in a number of other group exhibitions throughout Ireland including Ideal Homes, House, Love Your Home and she has enjoyed great success at Ireland’s premier Arts Fair, Art Source. She ships worldwide and her paintings can be found in many collections both in Ireland and across the world.
Donna is a member of Visual Arts Ireland , Merrion Arts Association and The Dublin Art Society. She is the recipient of a number of international awards. Read ‘What they Say’ on Testimonials
