The wonderful Blasket Islands in Co. Kerry with the backdrop of a beautiful skyline.  The islands remain uninhabited. Abandoned in 1954 due to population decline, the islands are today best known from the storytelling of Muiris Ó Súilleabháin and Peig Sayers. Over 1,100 acres of unspoiled largely mountainous terrain, the Great Blasket Island is approximately 4 miles long by 1/2 mile wide. Home to an abundance of wildlife and fauna, the Great Blasket Island is thriving with Irish history and life. Interest in the islands was stirred once again when former Taoiseach Charles Haughey’s purchased  Inishvickillane in the 1980s.  You can hire boats that will bring you to the islands to explore them and pick you up after a few hours.   You may spot dolphins; (Minke) whales; basking shark ( April / May); seals and sea birds along the way.

Is the painting ready to hang?

Yes, the painting is glazed and is presented in a white wooden frame with double mount and is ready to hang.

 

This is a variable product and is available for purchase flat-packed, in a protective cardboard tube or framed as outlined above.

We hold a small stock at hand and may need to re-order the print and/or the frame – allow two weeks. We can also discuss print sizes.
