Galway Hooker Boats

375.00

These boats are traditional fishing boats used in Galway Bay off the west coast of Ireland. The hooker was developed because of the forces of the sea in the wild atlantic way. It is identified by its sharp, clean entry, bluff bow, marked tumblehome and raked transom. Its sail plan consists of a single mast with a main sail and two foresails.  The red sails are very attractive to look at and there are regattas held throughout the year where you can see them in all of their glory.

Original Oil painting 40 x 30 cms (16 x 12 inches) presented in a white contemporary wooden frame.
