Lambay Island

450.00

Lambay Island painting was created en plein air which means I painted it on location. It is a view from the beach in Rush looking out to Lambay.

It was a lovely summers day and very enjoyable experience to paint.   I put the finishing touches on in the studio at a later time before sending it to the framers.

Rush has two sandy beaches, called the North Beach and South Beach, which are separated by the rocky head of the peninsula and a small tidal harbour, Rush Harbour.

The peninsula is the closest point of land to the privately owned Lambay Island. This makes Rush South Beach a popular kitesurfing location while its sand and dunes attract many visitors for family day-outs and picnics..

Rush sailing club is also located near the south shore and operates from a second harbour, Rogerstown harbour. This harbour is also used by a supply boat, The Shamrock, which provides supplies for the inhabitants of Lambay island.
