Poolbeg Generating Station Dublin or often referred to as The Pigeon House or the Chimneys which is a very familiar sight to all Dubliners. When flying in to Dublin, the sight of the Pigeon House tells you that you’re home! Located at Poolbeg Penninsula, Ringsend, on the south bank of Dublin Port, the chimneys are among the tallest structures in Ireland, just over 207 metres tall. The Poolbeg power station is situated adjacent to the now-decommissioned Pigeon House generating station, where electricity was first generated in 1903 (with the distinction of being the first in the world to generate three phase power).
