The Twelve Bens are a well known group of mountains scattered throughout the centre and north of Connemara.   This mountain range (also known as The Twelve Pins whichs translates to  “The Peaks of Beola” in Irish.) follow the N59 from Galway or Clifden or travel to the villages of Letterfrack or Recess and witness stunning views. The tallest peak Benbaun is 730m which I have enjoyed painting for a commission some time ago, and the smallest peak is Benglenisky at 516m. These mountains are part of Connemara National Park which covers some 2,000 hectares of scenic countryside.
