Pokhara Valley Nepal – Day 3

Pokhara Valley Nepal – Day 3

Never able to get enough of the sheer magnificence of the Himalayas, we get another opportunity to see the sunrise.

At 4.30 am, the bus steals us away into the night to Dhaulagiri. People flock in their hundreds up the hills like pilgrims.  We pick a ledge to stand on, no more room, not even the space of a postage stamp.  Quietly we stand and wait, cameras once again poised in prime position to take full advantage of the sunrise.

Then, like magic, there is a soft pink glow from the sky and shapes and shadows begin to emerge. Slowly, gently the mountains start to show themselves.  There is a hushed silence in the crowd.  People oooh and aaah and then there are sounds of frustration and annoyance because their cameras could not pick up on the beautiful vision before their eyes.  I too wished that I was a good photographer and that I had a camera that could capture this wonder.  Then some Eastern wisdom came to me – here was this beauty before my eyes – just enjoy it for what it is – it is not mine to capture!

Next day – return to Kathmandu.
